Jun/2015 - Hans We have joined Stuart Myron and others in hiring David Jacobs (403 630-1414) to oversee and execute our complaint against Rocky View changing the zoning in our park to accommodate the GFL proposed waste Transfer Facility. The actual issue is that GFL (Green For Life) has asked for a change to "Land Use" for the area to then be able to build the facility. This is what we are fighting. Rocky View will have sent out the request to all pertinent internal and external departments and are now gathering all documents that were due on May 29. David Jacobs did submit our united, formal complaint by the deadline and has talked with Ben Mercer at Rocky View county. He asked that we be present in the meeting later at Rocky View with GFL when all the reports have been gathered. Jim Rose (Bay 13 & 14) told me about a similar facility just down in the Wrangler industrial park (Beaver Grinding & Recycling, beavergrinding.com) where many owners are very unhappy about the traffic, mess and general inconveniences caused by this facility. They mentioned that in the short time it has been functional, there has been at least 3 accidents with the garbage trucks hauling to and from this plant. The owner of the "Filling Station" restaurant (235010 Wrangler Rd, Rocky View County, AB T1X 0K2) is the source who told Jim about these issues. I have informed David Jacobs about this. I will keep this document updated as we move along. Thanks. Hans.
